Overview
SimulTOF Systems produces state of the art MALDI-TOF and TOF-TOF mass spectrometry solutions for biological and clinical research applications. Our Founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Marvin Vestal, received the 2010 award for a “Distinguished Contribution to Mass Spectrometry” from the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS). He is widely recognized for driving the commercialization of “delayed extraction” MALDI-TOF, which revolutionized the technology. The team at SimulTOF Systems has worked for several years on further advancements in time-of-flight mass spectrometry that we are now bringing to the market. Our hardware incorporates patented advances that represent a quantum leap in speed, sensitivity and selectivity in MALDI-TOF and TOF-TOF mass spectrometry. These unparalleled performance features are coupled with intuitive software to fully optimize the entire workflow; particularly for biomarker, proteomic and clinical research applications.

Meet Our Team
Dr. Marvin Vestal is an accomplished and well-known thought leader in the international field of mass spectrometry. He has published well over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been awarded over 50 patents, with additional ones pending. In 2010, he was recognized with a rare “Distinguished Contribution to Mass Spectrometry” award by the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS). Marvin is widely known as the inventor of Thermospray HPLC-MS, which was the most common LC-MS interface before the advent and commercialization of electrospray ionization. His company at the time also developed and produced the first MALDI-TOF MS systems. In the late 1990’s, Marvin is credited for driving the development and commercialization of “delayed extraction” MALDI-TOF, which revolutionized the technology. Furthering the technology, Dr. Vestal drove the development of the first commercial TOF-TOF system in 2001. Marvin had a vision for MALDI-TOF and TOF-TOF technologies and founded Virgin Instruments (now doing business as SimulTOF Systems) in 2006. Since then, he and his talented team have taken the MALDI-TOF and TOF-TOF technologies to new and unprecedented levels. Marvin provides incredible energy and devotion to this endeavor and inspires the SimulTOF Systems team with his passion.
Dr. Christina Vestal co-founded Virgin Instruments Corp. (now doing business as SimulTOF Systems) in 2006. She is currently responsible for all financial and administrative functions at the company including purchasing, accounting, and human resources. She also co-founded Vestec Corporation in 1982, where she served as Treasurer and Applications Manager. As we build up our staff in the administrative and operational functions, she will focus her attention on her true passion, as Manager of the Applications Laboratory in support of our Sales and Marketing efforts. While Christina assumes this additional responsibility, she will still continue in her role as Vice Chairman and Treasurer for the company. In addition to the aforementioned roles, she also was an Organic Chemistry Instructor at the National Normal Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan and a Senior Chemist at ArQule Inc. in Medford, MA. Christina has a BS in Chemistry, an MS in Physical Chemistry, culminating in a PhD in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Houston. She has been a true partner with Marvin in the success of our company and will be instrumental in taking our company to the next level.
